Legislações da união européias (UE), por exemplo. A Diretiva da UE a respeito a responsabilidade sobre produtos defeituosos , faz os importadores da UE responsáveis para os produtos que importam, inclusive a maquinaria fornecem a seus empregados para o trabalho. Muitos exportadores não-europeius têm encontrado que não importa como intressado um importador em perspectiva da UE pode ser em seu produto, o importador NÃO arriscara de importar non-conforming produto (isto é produto sem Marca CE) que, caso em acidente, pode gera ação legal contra o importador da UE.

A Marca CE pode ser conseguido através de diversos módulos. Uma maneira mais prática, e mais prefirido pelo muitos importadores da UE que NÃO são especializado em o processo complicado sobre a Marca CE, é que o fabricante não-europeu estabelece um Representante Autorizado na UE que cuida solamente os asuntos sobre a Marca CE. Se possivel, o Representante Autorizado pode registrar o produto em um dos 15 estados membros da UE e obtenir um Certificado de Registro do produto. O Certificado de Registro do produto para Marca CE obtido em um dos 15 países da UE é válido para o mercado enteiro da UE (isto é um mercado de 15-país).
